In January 2002 Blade was just old enough to compete for Challenges and on his 7 month birthday won his first Challenge points towards his Australian Championship. The following weekend he was Reserve Challenge Dog to Khyber. The next day at the W.A. Puppy of the Year contest he gave me a wonderful thrill by winning the Hound Group Junior Section. There were 27 entries and a panel of 3 judges who scored him 26.5 points out of a possible 30. He went on to win 3rd place in the Finals under 3 different judges with two scoring highly 19 and 18 points out of 20. The third judge giving a low score of 6 points. Oh well, 5 out of the 6 judges scored him excellent and there was a total entry of 140 Best of Breed puppies in his section so I was thrilled with his results. By 11 months of age Blade had amassed 97 points towards his title. Blade ends 2002 an Australian Champion!
