At 5 years old Khyber took his first trip out of WA and flew with us to the 2004 Basenji Specialty in NSW. He did very well with judge Mr S Parsons (UK) awarding him 2nd Place in the Australian Bred Dog Class. His critique reads 'slightly smaller dog in better coat than 1, better front than 1 standing but not quite so good behind, very nice type, neat & together, not quite the proud carriage of 1 but strides out nicely.'

Khyber was my first basenji and I could never have got a better start with the breed.

14/10/00 Became titled Australian Champion with all certificates Best of Breed

23/6/01 Earned the obedience title of Companion Dog (CD)

This special boy is a delight to live with. Right from puppyhood Khyber has always been the most easy going, eager to please basenji. He has given me so much pleasure. He is such a good boy and I am very proud of him. I started obedience with him as a puppy and he flew through his obedience classes gaining his Companion Dog (CD) title before he was 2 years old. We entered trials for one month and he got his three passes coming 2nd place each time. He is only the second basenji in Western Australia to earn this obedience title, the first being in the 1960's. Khyber also enjoyed regeular agility but I sadly never found the time start trails with him.

As well as a delightful nature Khyber is also a sound, typy basenji with excellent conformation. He is well balanced, has a short, fine, rich red coat, lovely head (with chiselling) and expression, black pigmentation, strong level back, excellent tail set and tight curl.
