Photo Diary of Asti's pups week 2

19 January 2003 (Day10)
The past few days have been very sad at Kanibaru because we have had a bereavment so we're sorry there have been no photo updates.  Asti and her pups are all fine but we have sadly lost a much loved member of our basenji family to a snake bite.  We will be placing a special tribute in memory our beloved on this site a little later.

22 January 2003 (Day13)
Took some lovely photo's today and I want to make up for all the missing ones lately so here are a few.  They are really progressing now.  Eyes are still shut but they have been putting weight on all fours for the past couple of days and practising first walks.  They are so strong and squeak with excitement when mum gets in to feed them.  They greedily gulp poor Asti dry.  Asti has started to play with them gently and they are definately responding back playfully.  They stretch there necks in the air and sniff.  They seem very aware of their surroundings.  When I play with them doing cootchy coos they react just like a baby does by pulling faces, smiling and sticking out their tongues.

23 January 2003 (Day14)
The first photo today shows Asti hiding her eyes.  She's got wise to the camera meaning a flash in her eyes so she smartly dropped her head down behind the sheet each time I took a photo of the pups nursing.  The second photo is a group photo of the pups as they are two weeks old today!  We'll have to wait and see but I think tomorrow might be E-Day - eye opening day.

Week 1,  Week 2,  Week 3,  Week 4,  Week 5,  Week 6,  Week 7,  Week 8
